bye-bye paci

Well last night was the night...we said good-bye to the pacifier!  It was not enjoyable, but also not as bad as I thought it would be.  We took the paci out of the crib earlier in the day so Reese wouldn't see.  She had slept with a new (really an old one that she hadn't seen since the move) blanket and seemed to love it (because it was the kind she could rub:)).  So, when it came time to go to bed she was asking for that new blankie.  So we put that in there along with bunny and her old blanket as a new addition in replacement of the paci.  Of course she asked for "paci", but we just told her it went bye-bye and made a big deal about the new blanket..calling it her big girl blankie.  We did the bedtime routine and walked out with no crying!  Hoping we were in the clear, ten minutes later she was yelling for "mommy, mom, mama, mom, mommy."  Then for "daddy, dad, daddy."  Adam and I went in there three times in fifteen minutes and the last two times we walked out she was screaming and clinging to us and wouldn't let us set her down.  Adam brought her out into the family room once for a couple of minutes and then I took her back and literally had to peel her off of me and leave her hysterical, standing in the crib.  I felt so bad that I started to cry.  Jesus must have heard me because two minutes later she stopped crying all together.  I thought she might wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to able to go back to sleep, but that didn't happen either! She woke up once but we didn't even have to go in there.  We'll see how the nap goes today without it....and the car rides....Let's keep our fingers crossed that it's not too torturous for her or for her mom and dad.
