decorating ideas

with the new house possession in the near future i've had BILLIONS of decorating ideas spinning through my head these days.  my mom, sister, and i love thinking of possibilities for new canvases such as these.  so here's what's been spinning in my head (it helps me to write it out to get it all straight:))..

great room: we have buttercup colored couches, but i'm sick of the green/teal tones we had with it at our old house.  so, at first i was thinking about painting the walls gray, the coffee tables black, still using our light maple entertainment center, and incorporating those three colors into pillows/drapes..kind of along this line...
but i couldn't seem to find any fabric at any stores that were jumping out at me and i wasn't sure it would look quite right with the couch being yellow.  however, while at joann's today i found this fabric that i fell in LOVE with...

so the new plan is: grayish/taupey walls, still paint the coffee and side tables black, and this fabric for pillows and incorporated into the curtains somehow with this ball trim that i LOVE

on the wall behind the couch i was thinking about putting maybe some black and white photos in black frames in an arrangement maybe like this...or with some type of cool art mixed in too maybe...

master bedroom: we have a green silk bedspread from world market that was matched with some aqua shades in our old house.  i still like the comforter but want to switch the decor to a black and white theme.  here's the approximate color of the bedspread...
it's not quite this grassy, but you get the idea.
my mom is making table runners for my sister's wedding out of this fabric...

i'm hoping some is left over to make throw pillows for the bed and maybe a shower curtain.  i'm thinking black drapes like this for the windows...

with some of this fun ball trim probably....

and tie backs of some sort. like these knobby tie backs...

we have black furniture in there already, but i need to find a dresser for cheap to revamp and paint black. then probably put some black framed something or another in there as well and paint the walls celery.

basement: we have an aqua couch, arm chair with limes and aquas in it, and a chase with some of those colors in it as well.  i'm going to arrange the furniture around the fireplace with the coffee table in the center and possibly a circular tiered side table next to the couch.  it's too fancy for a basement really, so i'm hoping to make it more casual with some neutral curtains.  if i don't use that gold ball trim in the great room, i'll use it down here.  i'm planning on painting the walls an aquaish color of some sort and would love to put some type of tree in white like this in reese's play/art area...

speaking of reese's art/play area. that will be the next zone which will be right when you walk down the stairs to the basement.  i'm going to put my grandma's old china cabinet there repurposed as a craft storage cabinet.  i really want to paint it white, but feel bad and adam is really against it.  so my mom suggested that i just take some sort of fabric or paint and make a back panel that shows through the glass cabinet portion to modern it up a bit.  then put little containers inside to hold markers, thread, buttons, etc.  i also want to get a little table and chair set like this one...
and put some mirrors low to the ground so reese can see herself in them:)
in the other corner of the basement by the wet bar will be our old dining room table and chairs. i think i'll cover it a bit somehow with a table cloth possibly to make it more casual. oh yeah and i want to put the letter g at the bottom of the stairs like this...

but i'm thinking a cheaper way to do this is to get a cardboard one from joann's and spray it silver:)

other little ideas i'm tossing around: reese's rooom will stay the same.  guest bedroom will be painted light blue with the same decor as before.  all moldings and interior doors are being painted white.  hardwood is going into the kitchen and breakfast nook (i'll need a rug of somesort for under the kitchen table).  new carpet on the main level.  and i think ceramic in the two upstairs bathrooms...or atleast something better than the vinyl corklike floor that's in the bathroom now:)
can't wait to get started!  we get the keys in two days.
